• 10/19/2026 – Inside the Ballot Box: Election Security in 2026 – 5-5:30pm – Zoom - Join Volunteer Blue as Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon pulls back the curtain on the multi-layered security measures that protect our election systems from fraud. Simon will discuss how US voting is distributed across more than 10,000 independent election jurisdictions managed separately by state and local governments. He’ll describe how this dispersed election system offers widespread protection through distinct local rules about voting processes, equipment, paper trails, ballot chain of custody, and post-election audits. This makes it virtually impossible for bad actors to execute an attack that would alter election outcomes on any scale: local, state or national. In this 30-minute Zoom, you’ll learn about 

  • Election mischief, such as deceptive practices and hidden camera stunts inside polling locations 

  • Potential challenges from federal actions or immigration enforcement at polling sites

• 10/21/2026 – Colorado Stands with Ukraine: An Evening with Sunflower Seeds Ukraine – 6-7:30pm – Zoom – Join us on Zoom for a conversation with guest speaker Chip Heldman of Sunflower Seeds Ukraine, a Boulder-based nonprofit run entirely by volunteers in both the US and Ukraine! Chip will explain why this work matters: Ukraine's military is so large that it can't efficiently supply every soldier with everything they need, so Sunflower Seeds Ukraine works to fill the gap. 🩹 That means medical supplies and equipment like Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs), 🥽 protective gear such as eye and ear protection, rain gear, and gloves, and 🎒 tactical gear including backpacks, boots, drone detectors, and night vision devices. Beyond the front lines, the group converts ☀️ solar panels into USB chargers, sends 🏕️ kids to summer camp, supports a 🏫 school boiler project, and ships 🎣 fishing nets used to protect roads.
