1/24/2026 - Shut Down GEO Aurora Listening Session - 4-6 pm - Join the Shut Down GEO Coalition for a listening session in Aurora! This will be a space for community members to express concerns, share ideas, and listen to one another as we envision a future without immigration detention. Food and English/Spanish interpretation will be provided, and childcare will be available upon request! Register to get the location here.

And as Governor, Phil will fight to make CO more affordable, protect our state from a lawless administration, and ensure every community has a voice in the decisions that shape our future. 2/5/2026 - Foothills Democracy Defenders Monthly Meeting - 5:30-6:30 pm - Faith Lutheran Church, 17701 W. 16th St., Golden, CO. We have Jena Griswold - current Secretary of State - and now running to be our next Attorney General - tentatively scheduled to attend. Keep your fingers crossed.

2/16/2026 - President’s Day Protest - (Noon-2 pm) - Genesee Overpass - If Genesee weather is predicted to be challenging to our Dissent and Protest, we will decrease our time on the Overpass to just ONE hour; if OpenSnow forecast includes predictions that will compromise safe functioning. 3/7/2026 Clear Creek County Democrats Caucus and Assembly 10:00 am. The caucus elects delegates to the county assembly, where delegates will be chosen for the State Assembly and the multi-district assemblies convened for the Congressional Race, State Senate, and State House races. We will also nominate our local candidates for the November ballot. The State Democratic Assembly will take place on March 28 in Pueblo, Colorado. Support for SNAP recipients, ongoing.

Although the federal shutdown is over, funds for the SNAP program remain at risk. Thousands of low-income Coloradans are food insecure. Many statewide and local groups have stepped up to support local food banks to fill the gap in SNAP benefits. Colorado Public Radio has compiled a list of organizations working to keep people fed.

In Clear Creek County, Loaves and Fishes is the local food pantry. They can always use your support, whether through donations of funds, canned goods, or your time.

Ongoing Weekly Protests:

Daily - “Snack Bag Handout.” Volunteers sit outside the GEO detention center in Aurora and offer snack bags, little toys, and/or a listening ear to family and friends who have visited their loved ones in GEO. The program shares the court accompaniment's goal of providing emotional support to those whose lives have been impacted by the detention system. If you would like to participate in this program, you will need to complete Casa de Paz’s online training course, which includes the Snack Bag program as one part. After completion, you will be able to access the snack bag signup form. Register for the training course.

Every Wednesday - 6-7:30 pm - Solidarity Warriors - Solidarity Warriors is an action-focused, Indivisible group formed from the Worth Fighting For movement. We are comprised of people from across the nation, with many residing in Colorado. We are focused on action rather than just airing political grievances, so please come prepared to talk about what you want to DO to protect vulnerable communities and resist the new administration.
