A note from Jane Coffin about the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry

The Loaves and Fishes food pantry offers canned food and hot meals to those in need in Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties. A pipe burst in the Loaves and Fishes building on the second Wednesday in January, flooding the shopping area.    Due to the flooding, the shopping area was closed, and Loaves and Fishes served our clients from a makeshift shop.  For the past three months, the volunteers at the food pantry worked with limited space to provide food and support for our neighbors.  But the repairs to the shopping area are complete, and Loaves and Fishes is back!

As of this coming Thursday and Friday, April 3 and 4, Loaves and Fishes will resume full capacity and operation, serving a hot meal and providing food in its newly refurbished shopping area.  

Loaves and Fishes will resume its regular hours on Thursday and Friday, 11 am—5 pm.

The Loaves and Fishes food pantry is a volunteer organization that relies on neighbors recognizing a need and coming together to support the community.

• Our local Clear Creek Democrats have stepped up to help us! They will sponsor and help with our 3rd Annual Wing Crawl, to be held on May 3rd. Now, y’all come! The Democrats will also be having a nonperishable food drive for us.  

• The Idaho Springs Lions Club has held two food drives in front of Safeway for us, and they have promised to do more!

• Over 30 volunteers dedicated nearly 4,000 hours in the past year supporting our food pantry clients.
