Democracy Fest 2026: "D" is for "Drive"

Over 100 Clear Creek Democrats and Independents gathered at the Idaho Springs Sports and Events Complex on August 22 to celebrate democracy and prepare for the upcoming midterm elections.

The highlight of Democracy Fest was two rousing speeches by Joe Neguse, of Colorado's Second Congressional District, and Jamie Raskin, of Maryland's Eighth Congressional District.

Congressman Raskin set the stakes of the upcoming election by noting that "'D' is for 'Drive' and 'R' is for 'Reverse'", reminding us that the upcoming midterm election is an opportunity to move our nation forward and embrace the future.

Dylan Roberts, Colorado State Senate District 8, Junie Joseph, Colorado House District 10, and Amanda Gonzalez, candidate for Colorado Secretary of State, also celebrated with the Clear Creek Democrats.

Clear Creek County candidates Chris Gould (candidate for Clear Creek County Commissioner), Lisa Manifold (candidate for Clear Creek County Clerk and Recorder), and Keith Viegew (candidate for Clear Creek County Treasurer) also made appearances and discussed their visions for the county.

The midterm election is a little more than two months away. This is our chance to stop the outrages of the last two years and build a government that represents its people and isn't afraid to tackle the challenges we face.

As Congressman Raskin said, "Liberty" is the root of "liberalism," and "progress" is the root of "progressivism." The challenge is to put these ideas into action.

Members of the Clear Creek Democrats are ready and excited to canvass and work for a successful election: re-electing Joe Neguse and Dylan Roberts, electing Phil Weiser as Governor, Jena Griswold as Attorney General, Amanda Gonzalez as Secretary of State, Jeff Bridges as Treasurer, and electing Chris Gould, Lisa Manifold, and Keith Vieweg to serve in Clear Creek County.
