As summer turns to fall, election season begins. Currently, two local races are beginning for the November 4, 2025, election:
Idaho Springs Coordinated Election
The City of Idaho Springs opened its nominating petition process for Mayor, three Council Members, and the City Clerk on August 4. See the Idaho Springs Website for more information. https://www.idahospringsco.com/our-community/page/call-candidates-2025-coordinated-election
Clear Creek Board of Education
Three seats for the Clear Creek Board of Education are up for election. Nomination petitions are available beginning on August 6. See the Clear Creek Board of Education Website for more information. https://www.ccsdre1.org/boe
After November 2025, take a break for Christmas, then prepare for November 2, 2026. The November 2026 Election will be the most important midterm election in our history. Not only are all the major Statewide offices (Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, and State Treasurer) and one Clear Creek County Commissioner's office are up for election, this is also our chance to flip the U.S. House by electing Democrats in House Districts 3,4,5, and 8, and our chance to elect at least one U.S. Senator.
There are a lot of opportunities to make a difference in 2026, even if some of these elections don’t impact Clear Creek County directly.
Election Season is coming. It’s time to lace up your boots, get outside, and make stuff happen.
